Is Misbah-ul-Haq fit to be the Head Coach & Chief Selector?

Premature news had been circulation since the conclusion of the ICC Cricket World Cup as to who will replace Mickey Arthur. The great Misbah-ul-Haq has finally accepted the most important position, the Head Coach of Pakistan Cricket Team and the Chief Selector.

Mickey’s exit, like any other foreign coach before him, is welcomed by ex-cricketers and the general public alike. World cup always becomes a pretext to hire and fire the captain and the coach along with the chief selector.

This time Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has refused to step down as the skipper of the team and the fact finding team, that was supposed to file a comprehensive report about the failures of the team in world cup, is insignificantly oblivious. The World Cup is over, things have cooled down and the easiest casualty for PCB is the foreign coach.

Misbah-ul-Haq is appointed Head Coach and Chief Selector of Pakistan cricket team.

Misbah-ul-Haq will be the most powerful person in team management since he is the coach and the Chief Selector at the same time. He will have no excuse as to the selection of the team. In the past the disagreement between coach and selectors had been an impediment in developing the team combination.

The performance of Pakistan cricket team largely depend on how the team plays as a unit. The biggest challenge for Misbah would be to yoke the team together. Misbah-ul-Haq has to purge the team of conflicts and animosities among the players.

The 45 year old cricket genius has all the potential to excel as a coach. He has the character, patience and persistence to bring the best out of the team. Misbah-ul-Haq will be companied by Waqar Younas, former head coach Pakistan. Waqar is appointed as the bowling coach who will replace Azhar Mahmood.

Pakistan is a cricket crazy country and we all love and respect Misbah-ul-Haq. It is hoped that he will live up to the expectations of all of us.
